Nothing to
collect.

—

Faraway Radio has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, store or receive any personal data from the app.

The app does talk to a few services over the internet in order to work. This page lists each one and what it sees. Nothing here identifies you to us, because nothing is ever sent to us.

Last updated 14 October 2026. Applies to Faraway Radio 1.0 for iOS.

What we collect

  • —Nothing. Faraway Radio has no servers of its own and sends no data to Myrsky Dev Oy.

Stored on your device

  • Saved stations and songsThe stations you keep, your categories, and songs you mark as liked.
  • SettingsYour filters, language choice, and a short list of streams that recently failed so they are skipped.
  • Where it livesOn your phone only. No iCloud, no cloud copy. Delete the app and it is gone.

Services the app connects to

  • Radio BrowserThe community-run station directory (api.radio-browser.info). The app asks it for station lists by country, genre and name. Like any web server it sees your IP address while answering; the app sends nothing else.
  • Radio broadcastersAudio streams come straight from each station's own server. The broadcaster you are listening to sees your IP address, exactly as it would if you opened the stream in a browser. Their own privacy terms apply.
  • MET NorwayWeather for the sky over the globe (api.met.no). The request carries the coordinates of the station you are hearing, never your own location. The app does not ask for or use location services.
  • Apple — ShazamWhen you tap to name a song, the app records a few seconds of what is playing and sends an audio fingerprint to Apple's ShazamKit service for matching. The recording is not saved, and the microphone is used only while you are identifying a song. Apple's privacy policy applies to the match.
  • Apple — iTunes Search and Apple MusicOnce a song is named, the app looks up its artwork and store link by title and artist (itunes.apple.com, MusicKit). Nothing about you is in the request.
  • Links you tapA station's website, or a song search on Spotify or YouTube, opens outside the app only when you tap it. Their own privacy terms apply from there.
  • Apple — App StoreThe one-time unlock is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. We receive no name, email or payment detail; Apple tells the app only that the purchase exists.

What we never do

  • —No analytics or crash-reporting SDKs of any kind
  • —No ads and no ad identifiers today
  • —No account, sign-in, or email collection
  • —No location access — the globe spins to stations, not to you
  • —No sale or sharing of data, because there is none

Children

  • —The app collects no data from anyone, including children. Live radio is unmoderated broadcast content from around the world, so what you hear is up to each station.

Changes

  • —If a future version adds a service or starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the date above changed before that version ships.
